Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm has given department heads guidelines for preparing preliminary budgets, which could change dramatically as the year progresses. Suhm says that no decision on a property tax increase request has been made.
Cut spending by 30 percent in most departments.
Cut spending by 5 percent in police, fire and code compliance departments.
Assume no salary increases will be granted in 2010-11 for city employees.
